In-hand salary for ₹12 LPA CTC
If your offer letter says ₹12 lakh per year (₹12,00,000 CTC), this is what lands in your bank account each month under the standard assumptions below — in both tax regimes, so you can pick the better one on your employer's payroll portal.
Estimated monthly in-hand
₹91,868 per month
under the new tax regime — ₹11,02,412 a year after PF, professional tax and income tax
Under these assumptions the new regime is better by ₹8,726 per month (₹1,04,710 per year). Income tax under the new regime is ₹0 at this CTC — the Section 87A rebate wipes out the tax of ₹46,591 (before cess) because taxable income of ₹10,65,912 is within the ₹12,00,000 rebate limit.

Assumptions used for this page
- Basic salary = 40% of CTC (₹4,80,000). HRA shown as 50% of basic, as a salary-structure component only — no HRA exemption is claimed in the tax calculation.
- PF = 12% of basic, capped at the ₹25,000/month wage ceiling, so PF is ₹3,000/month (₹36,000/year) from both employer and employee.
- Gratuity = 4.81% of basic, counted inside CTC. Professional tax = Maharashtra (male), ₹2,500/year — ₹200/month with ₹300 in February.
- Old regime assumes the full ₹1,50,000 Section 80C deduction is used. New regime uses the ₹75,000 standard deduction and the Section 87A rebate where applicable. Surcharge is not applied.
- Your number will differ if your basic %, state, or PF basis differs — use the full calculator with your own values. Full formulas: methodology page.
Why other websites show a different number for ₹12 LPA
For the same CTC, calculators disagree because they silently choose different basic percentages, PF bases (capped vs full basic) and states. A site assuming basic at 50% of CTC with PF on full basic will show a lower monthly figure than this page; a site ignoring gratuity inside CTC will show a higher one. None of them is "wrong" — they are answering different questions. We publish our assumptions above so you can see exactly which question this page answers.
